IndyCar: Sebastien Bourdais tops first 2018 Honda Indy 200 practice

Sebastien Bourdais topped the speed chart in the first practice session for the 13th race of the 2018 IndyCar season, the Honda Indy 200.

Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais topped the speed chart in the first of three practice sessions for the Honda Indy 200, which is the 13th race of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season.

Bourdais topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 65.6784 seconds (123.955 miles per hour) around the 13-turn, 2.258-mile (3.634-kilometer) Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio in his #18 Honda.

Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden was the fastest Chevrolet driver in the practice session. He finished in second place in his #1 Chevrolet. Honda drivers Scott Dixon and Takuma Sato finished in third and fourth in their #9 Chip Ganassi Racing Honda and #30 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing Honda, respectively.

Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot rounded out the top five in fifth place as the highest finishing non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver of the practice session in his #21 Chevrolet. Aside of Newgarden, Pigot was the only Chevrolet driver who finished the session in the top 10.

Chip Ganassi Racing’s Ed Jones, Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi rounded out the top 10 in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #10 Honda, #28 Honda, #5 Honda, #15 Honda and #27 Honda, respectively.

The second practice session for the Honda Indy 200 is scheduled to take place this afternoon at 2:35 p.m. ET., and the third practice session for the race is scheduled to take place tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. ET. Both practice sessions are scheduled to be broadcast live on IndyCar RaceControl, the IndyCar app, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.

Qualifying for the Honda Indy 200 is scheduled to take place tomorrow at 1:35 p.m. ET, and it is scheduled to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network starting at 1:30 p.m. ET. The race itself is scheduled to begin at 3:35 p.m. ET on Sunday, July 29, and it is scheduled to be broadcast live on CNBC starting at 3:00 p.m. ET. It is scheduled to re-air on Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.
