Team Penske’s Will Power topped the speed chart in the second of three practice sessions for the 16th race of the 2018 IndyCar season, the Grand Prix of Portland.
Like he did in the first of yesterday’s two test sessions at the track, Team Penske’s Will Power topped the speed chart in the second of three practice sessions at Portland International Raceway ahead of the penultimate race of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season, the Grand Prix of Portland.
Power topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 57.4053 seconds (123.354 miles per hour) around the 12-turn, 1.967-mile (3.166-kilometer) Portland International Raceway road course in Portland, Oregon in his #12 Chevrolet.
Power was the lone Chevrolet driver who finished the practice session in the top five. Andretti Herta Autosport’s Marco Andretti was the fastest Honda driver in the session, as he finished in second place in his #98 Honda.

Dale Coyne Racing rookie Santino Ferrucci, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who topped the speed chart in yesterday’s first open test session, and Meyer Shank Racing rookie Jack Harvey rounded out the top five in this practice session in third, fourth and fifth place in their #39 Honda, #9 Honda and #60 Honda, respectively.
Team Penske’s Josef Newgarden finished the practice session in sixth place in his #1 Chevrolet, and Harding Racing’s Gabby Chaves was the highest finishing non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver of the session. He finished in seventh in his #88 Chevrolet.
Andretti Autosport rookie Zach Veach, Ed Carpenter Racing rookie Jordan King and Dale Coyne Racing’s Sebastien Bourdais, who topped the speed chart today’s first practice session, rounded out the top 10 in the practice session in eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #26 Honda, #20 Chevrolet and #18 Honda, respectively.
At 2:10 p.m. ET tomorrow afternoon, the third and final practice session for the race is schedule to start, and it is set to be broadcast live on IndyCar RaceControl, the IndyCar mobile app, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube like the first two were.
Qualifications for the race are scheduled to start tomorrow evening at 6:20 p.m. ET. Like the final practice session is, they are set to be broadcast live on IndyCar RaceControl, the IndyCar mobile app, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as well.
NBC Sports Network is set to re-air qualifications just over an hour later at 7:30 p.m. ET tomorrow night, which should be right around the time when the live broadcast of qualifications wraps up.
The live broadcast of the race is set to begin on NBC Sports Network at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday afternoon, and the race is scheduled to go green at around 3:00 p.m. ET.
