Rossi is one of two drivers who finished in the top 10 in each of the six oval races this season. The other driver who did so, Simon Pagenaud, failed to win an oval race this year, whereas Rossi won the race at Pocono Raceway.
Rossi racked up five top five finishes and four podium finishes in the six oval races this season as well, whereas Pagenaud racked up just two top five finishes and one podium finish in those six races en route to a fourth place finish in the final formulated set of these rankings in 2018.
Meanwhile, Power soared to the top of the non-formulated set of these rankings following the final oval race of the season despite the fact that he failed to finish two of the four oval races that were contested in 2018. In the four races that he did finish, he never finished lower than sixth place.
Power racked up three podium finishes and two victories in oval races this year, and he ended the season with two consecutive podium finishes in those races, the second of which being a victory. He won the oval championship by just one point over Rossi and by just six points over Dixon.
The next IndyCar oval race is currently slated to be the 2019 Indianapolis 500, as there are no more oval races remaining on the 2018 schedule. This race is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 26. NBC is set to broadcast that race live from Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana beginning at 11:00 a.m. ET.
