IndyCar Team Oval Power Rankings after 2018 Bommarito Automotive Group 500

No more oval races remain on the 2018 IndyCar schedule. How do the sport’s 10 full-time teams stack up against one another in these races to close out the season?

Four teams entered the sixth and final oval race of the 17-race 2018 IndyCar season, the Bommarito Automotive Group 500, at Gateway Motorsports Park having won at least one oval race so far this year.

Only one of those four teams entered with two victories in oval races this year, but that one team had not earned a victory in any oval race since they earned victories in both of the first two races of the season.

That team, Team Penske, ended their oval race win drought as a result of Will Power’s victory in the 248-lap race around the four-turn, 1.25-mile (2.012-kilometer) Gateway Motorsports Park oval in Madison, Illinois.

Because of this, Team Penske will end the season with victories in half of the oval races that were contested this season, and they will end the season with three times as many victories in oval races as the three other teams that won earned an oval race victory this season.

The three races that won exactly one oval race this season are Chip Ganassi Racing, Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and Andretti Autosport. Scott Dixon, James Hinchcliffe and Alexander Rossi won the races at Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway and Pocono Raceway for those three teams, respectively,

There are no formulated rankings predictions for after the next oval race included in this article because of the fact that the Bommarito Automotive Group 500 at Gateway Motorsports Park was the sixth and final oval race of the 2018 season.

There are no more oval races remaining on the 2018 IndyCar schedule. The next IndyCar oval race will likely be the 2019 Indianapolis 500, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, May 26. That race is set to be broadcast live from Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana starting at 11:00 a.m. ET on NBC.
