The 17th and final race of the 2018 IndyCar season is scheduled to take place this Sunday evening at Sonoma Raceway. Here is the entry list for this race.
One race remains on the 17-race 2018 IndyCar schedule, and that race, the IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma, is scheduled to take place this Sunday, September 16. For the 13th consecutive season, the championship is set to be decided in the season finale.
This race is set to be an 85-lap race around the 12-turn, 2.385-mile (3.838-kilometer) Sonoma Raceway road course in Sonoma, California. Sonoma Raceway has hosted the season finale in every season since the 2015 season, and this year’s season finale is set to be a double points race like it has been in every season since the 2014 season.
A total of 25 drivers are on the entry list for the IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma, which is tied for the second highest driver total of the season. A total of 25 drivers competed in the most recent race, the Grand Prix of Portland, at Portland International Raceway less than two weeks ago as well.
The Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway back in late May is the only race that featured more than 25 drivers this season. Like it traditionally does, it featured 33 drivers.

The Grand Prix of Portland and the IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma are the only two non-Indy 500 races to feature more than 24 drivers on their respective entry lists since the 2016 Grand Prix of Indianapolis on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course featured 25 drivers.
A total of 17 drivers have competed in each of the 16 races that have been contested so far in the 2018 season. However, 18 drivers have at least attempted to qualify for all 16 of them, as Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe tried but failed to qualify for the Indy 500. As a result, he has driven in 15 of the season’s 16 races so far this year. All 18 of these full-time drivers are set to compete in this Sunday’s race.
In addition to the 18 full-time drivers who are set to compete in this weekend’s race, seven part-time drivers are set to do so. Of these seven part-time drivers, five have driven in at least one IndyCar race before, and all five of them have do so this season.
However, two of these seven part-time drivers have not yet driven in any IndyCar races in their careers. These drivers, Patricio O’Ward and Colton Herta, are set to drive for Harding Racing in this Sunday’s race after completing the 2018 Indy Lights season in first and second place in the championship standings driving for Andretti Autosport and Andretti Steinbrenner Racing, respectively.
Here is a list of the seven part-time drivers who are set to compete in the IndyCar Grand Prix of Sonoma at Sonoma Raceway this Sunday evening.
