Esteban Ocon and Kevin Magnussen were both disqualified from the United States Grand Prix. How did their disqualifications affect the Formula 1 standings?
Racing Point Force India’s Esteban Ocon and Haas’ Kevin Magnussen were both disqualified from the 18th race of the 21-race 2018 Formula 1 season, the United States Grand Prix, at Circuit of the Americas after the race concluded.
These two drivers were disqualified from the race for different reasons. Ocon was disqualified as a result of the fact that he breached Formula 1’s fuel-flow limit of 100 kilograms per hour on the opening lap of the 56-lap race while Magnussen was disqualified as a result of the fact that he consumed too much fuel throughout the race.
Ocon originally finished the race around the 20-turn, 3.427-mile (5.513-kilometer) Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas in eighth place and scored four points while Magnussen originally finished in ninth and scored two.
How did the disqualifications of these two drivers affect the Formula 1 driver standings and the Formula 1 constructor standings?

Three drivers ended up gaining points as a result of the disqualifications of these two drivers. Force India’s Sergio Perez originally scored one point by finishing the race in 10th place. He ended up being promoted to eighth and scoring four points, which increased his point total from 53 to 57 as opposed to 53 to 54
As a result, Force India ended up only losing one point. Instead of their point total increasing from 43 to 48, it increased from 43 to 47.
The other two drivers who ended up gaining points as a result of the disqualifications of Ocon and Magnussen were Scuderia Toro Rosso’s Brendon Hartley and Alfa Romeo Sauber’s Marcus Ericsson. Neither one of these two drivers originally scored points in this race, as they finished in 11th and 12th place, respectively.

When it was all said and done, Haas ended up in the worst position from a team perspective. They did not make up any of the points lost by Magnussen. Instead of their point total increasing from 84 to 86, it stayed at 84.
Magnussen originally ended the race in eighth place in the driver standings with his 55 points while Perez ended the race in ninth with his 54 points and Ocon ended the race in 10th with his 53 points. However, Perez now sits in eighth with his 57 points while Magnussen sits in ninth with his 53 points and Ocon sits in 11th with his 49 points.
McLaren’s Fernando Alonso, who originally ended the race in 11th place in the driver standings with his 50 points, still has 50 points. However, he is now ahead of Ocon in 10th. Meanwhile, Ericsson originally ended the race in a tie for 17th place in the standings with Williams Martini Racing’s Lance Stroll. However, he now sits alone in 17th while Stroll sits alone in 18th.
