Formula 1: Driver grades after the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix
Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and Kimi Raikkonen headlined the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix in which Mercedes sealed their fifth consecutive Formula 1 constructor championship.
Newly crowned five-time world champion Lewis Hamilton rose to the occasion to win the Brazilian Grand Prix from the pole position for his 10th victory of the 2018 Formula 1 season and 50th in the V6 turbo hybrid era. Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport clinched the constructor championship after Scuderia Ferrari failed to outscore Mercedes by 13 points or more to keep the battle alive.
Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen comfortably led the race until lap 44 when he made contact with backmarker Esteban Ocon of Racing Point Force India, resulting in a spin. Hamilton was quick to take advantage of this and the Brit acquired a comfortable five-second lead over the Dutchman.
Verstappen, who finished in second place but was clearly upset over that incident, had quite a mouthful to say about Ocon and later encountered the Force India driver physically, for which both drivers were summoned by the stewards and Verstappen was assigned “public service” for his unsportsmanlike conduct. Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel had a poor start and locked up early in the race to finish in only sixth.
Here are the driver grades from the 2018 Brazilian Grand Prix.
