Team Penske’s Joey Logano took his first pole position of 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season by taking the pole position for the season’s sixth race, the STP 500, at Martinsville Speedway.
By taking the pole position for this 500-lap race around the four-turn, 0.526-mile (0.847-kilometer) Martinsville Speedway oval in Ridgeway, Virginia, Logano became the sixth different polesitter through the season’s first six races.
Logano took the pole position for this race by recording a top lap time of 19.356 seconds (97.830 miles per hour) in his #22 Ford in the third and final round of qualifying for it.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Aric Almirola is set to start the race alongside Logano on the front row after qualifying in second place in his #10 Ford.
Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick are set to share the second row on the starting grid after qualifying in third and fourth place in their #2 Ford and #4 Ford, respectively, giving Ford drivers a top four sweep of the starting grid for this race.
Joe Gibbs Racing’s Denny Hamlin, the highest qualifying Toyota driver of the race, and Hendrick Motorsports’ William Byron, the highest qualifying Chevrolet driver of the race, are set to share the third row on the starting grid after qualifying in fifth and sixth place in their #11 Toyota and #24 Chevrolet, respectively.
Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kyle Larson, Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr. and Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez are set to round out the top 10 on the starting grid after qualifying in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #42 Chevrolet, #9 Chevrolet, #19 Toyota and #41 Ford, respectively.
Stewart-Haas Racing’s Clint Bowyer and Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson, the slowest two of the 12 drivers who advanced to the third and final round of qualifying, are set to share the sixth row on the starting grid after qualifying in 11th and 12th place in their #14 Ford and #48 Chevrolet, respectively.
