NASCAR Cup Series: Kevin Harvick takes pole for 2019 Toyota Owners 400

Kevin Harvick took the pole position for the ninth race on the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the Toyota Owners 400, at Richmond Raceway.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Kevin Harvick became the first driver to take two pole positions in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season by taking the pole position for the season’s ninth race, the Toyota Owners 400, at Richmond Raceway.

Harvick also took the pole position for the race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in early March, but seven different drivers were responsible for taking the pole positions for the other seven races that have been contested so far this season.

Harvick took the pole position for Saturday night’s 400-lap race around the four-turn, 0.75-mile (1.207-kilometer) Richmond Raceway oval in Richmond, Virginia by recording a top lap time of 21.722 seconds (124.298 miles per hour) in the third and final round of qualifying for the race.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Erik Jones was the highest qualifying Toyota driver for the race while Chip Ganassi Racing’s Kurt Busch was the highest qualifying Chevrolet driver for the race. These two drivers qualified in second and third place in their #20 Toyota and #1 Chevrolet, respectively.

Team Penske’s Joey Logano and Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, who won both Cup Series races at Richmond Raceway last season, rounded out the top five by qualifying in fourth and fifth place in their #22 Ford and #18 Toyota, respectively.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Martin Truex Jr., Hendrick Motorsports’ Chase Elliott, Richard Childress Racing’s Austin Dillon, Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez and Hendrick Motorsports’ Jimmie Johnson rounded out the top 10 by qualifying in sixth, seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #19 Toyota, #9 Chevrolet, #3 Chevrolet, #41 Ford and #48 Chevrolet, respectively.

JTG Daugherty Racing’s Chris Buescher and Team Penske’s Brad Keselowski were the slowest two of the 12 drivers who advanced to the third and final round of qualifying for this race. They qualified in 11th and 12th place in their #37 Chevrolet and #2 Ford, respectively.
