IndyCar: Alexander Rossi tops third 2019 Long Beach practice session

Alexander Rossi topped the speed chart in the third and final practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s fourth race, the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi topped the speed chart in the third and final practice session for the fourth race of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, the Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, on the streets of Long Beach, California.

Rossi topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 67.0588 seconds (105.651 miles per hour) around the 11-turn, 1.968-mile (3.167-kilometer) temporary street circuit on the streets of Long Beach, California in his #27 Honda.

Rossi led a top four sweep by Honda drivers in this practice session, as Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, who topped the speed chart in the second session, and Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay, who topped the speed chart in the first session, finished in second, third and fourth place in their #15 Honda, #9 Honda and #28 Honda, respectively.

Team Penske teammates Simon Pagenaud and Josef Newgarden were the highest finishing Chevrolet drivers in this practice session. They finished in fifth and sixth place in their #22 Chevrolet and #2 Chevrolet, respectively.

Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta and Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist finished this practice session in seventh and eighth place in their #88 Honda and #10 Honda, respectively, ahead of the session’s top non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver, Carlin rookie Patricio O’Ward, in ninth in his #31 Chevrolet. Team Penske’s Will Power rounded out the top 10 by finishing in 10th in his #12 Chevrolet.

Qualifying for this race is scheduled to begin at 3:10 p.m. ET this afternoon, and it is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network, which is also set to air the live broadcast of the race itself tomorrow beginning at 4:00 p.m. ET. NBC Sports Gold is set to air the live broadcast of the final warmup session tomorrow beginning at 12:00 p.m. ET.
