In his third NASCAR Cup Series season and first season driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, Daniel Suarez is still searching for the first victory of his career. When will he earn it?

A total of 17 drivers drive for the top-tier teams of Joe Gibbs Racing, Stewart-Haas Racing, Hendrick Motorsports, Team Penske or Chip Ganassi Racing, and three of these 17 drivers entered the 36-race 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season without ever having earned any victories throughout their careers.

Stewart-Haas Racing’s Daniel Suarez, who spent the first two seasons of his Cup Series career in 2017 and 2018 driving for Joe Gibbs Racing, was one of these three drivers.

All three of these drivers are still winless through the first 10 races of the 2019 season. That said, all two of the three have either tied their career-high finishes or recorded new career-high finishes.

In Suarez’s case, he is the only one of these three drivers who has not yet recorded a new career-high finish nor tied his previous career-high finish.

However, he is still on pace for what would be by far the best season of his Cup Series career in what is his first season driving the #41 Ford, and his season has been better than the seasons of these other two winless drivers, Hendrick Motorsports teammates Alex Bowman and William Byron.

The 27-year-old Mexican entered the 2019 season with a career-high finish of second place in 72 career starts. He finished in second in the July race at Pocono Raceway, which is the only race from which he has started from the pole position in his career thus far.

Interestingly enough, this race at Pocono Raceway produced the career-high finishes for all three of these drivers, and these career-high finishes were the career-high finishes for all of them entering the 2019 season.

In his other 71 starts entering the season, Suarez had recorded two third place finishes as well, one in the race at Watkins Glen International in the 2017 season and one in the May race at Dover International Speedway in the 2018 season.

Through the first 10 races of the 2019 season, Suarez sits in 12th place in the championship standings, and he appears to be in a pretty solid position as far as the playoff picture is concerned, which is not something that Bowman or Byron can say.

This is the case despite the fact that he has never previously qualified for the playoffs. He finished in 20th place in the championship standings in the 2017 season and 21st in the standings in the 2018 season.

Suarez has recorded four top 10 finishes so far this season, including the fourth top three finish of his career, as he finished in third place in the race at Texas Motor Speedway. In his first season driving for Stewart-Haas Racing, he appears to be on the verge of finally earning what would be the first victory of his career. It seems to be only a matter of time.
