The fifth consecutive 1-2 finish for the Brackley-based team to start the season made them the first team in Formula 1 history to record five consecutive 1-2 finishes to start a season just one race after becoming the first team in Formula 1 history to start a season with four consecutive 1-2 finishes with Bottas’s victory and Hamilton’s second place finish in the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Going back to last season, Mercedes have now won seven consecutive races. Aston Martin Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen won the most recent race that was not won by either Hamilton or Bottas, as he dominated the 2018 season’s 19th race, the Mexican Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Scuderia Ferrari, one of the three teams alongside Mercedes and Red Bull Racing that have combined to win the last 123 races going back to the beginning of the 2013 season, have not won any of the last eight races, as their most recent victory came when Kimi Raikkonen won the 2018 season’s 18th race, the United States Grand Prix.
Kimi Raikkonen, however, no longer drives for the team. As far as their active drivers are concerned, they have not won any of the last 13 races, as their most recent victory came when Sebastian Vettel won the 2018 season’s 13th race, the Belgian Grand Prix.
