The top nine drivers in the Formula E driver standings are still separated by only a handful of points following 2018-2019 season’s ninth race, the Monaco ePrix, at Circuit de Monaco.

Following the Monaco ePrix, which was the ninth race on the 2018-2019 Formula E schedule, the top nine drivers in the driver standings are still separated by only a handful of points with only four races remaining on the schedule.

The only thing that has changed about this is the fact that this driver total of nine is actually the lowest that it has been this season, illustrating the incredibly high level of parity that exists within the sport.

In fact, it took until the season’s ninth race for a driver to finally win multiple races this season, as DS Techeetah’s Jean-Eric Vergne won the Monaco ePrix after winning the season’s sixth race, the Sanya ePrix as well.

Here are the top nine drivers in the driver standings through the first nine races of the 2018-2019 season. Six of these nine drivers have won at least one race so far this season, as DS Techeetah’s Andre Lotterer, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler’s Daniel Abt and Nissan e.dams’ Oliver Rowland have not yet done so.

Rank – Driver, Car, Team, Manufacturer: Points (Behind)
1st – Jean-Eric Vergne, #25, DS Techeetah, Spark-DS Automobiles: 87 (0)
2nd – Andre Lotterer, #36, DS Techeetah, Spark-DS Automobiles: 86 (-1)
3rd – Robin Frijns, #4, Envision Virgin Racing, Spark-Audi: 81 (-6)
4th – Antonio Felix da Costa, #28, BMW i Andretti Motorsport, Spark-BMW: 70 (-17)
4th – Lucas di Grassi, #11, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler: 70 (-17)
6th – Mitch Evans, #20, Panasonic Jaguar Racing, Spark-Jaguar: 69 (-18)
7th – Jerome d’Ambrosio, #64, Mahindra Racing, Spark-Mahindra: 65 (-22)
8th – Daniel Abt, #66, Audi Sport ABT Schaeffler: 59 (-28)
8th – Oliver Rowland, #22, Nissan e.dams, Spark-Nissan: 59 (-28)

With these drivers separated by only 28 points, any one of them could end up leading the driver standings following the season’s next race, the Berlin ePrix, as 29 points (25 points for winning the race, three points for taking the pole position and one point for recording the race’s fastest lap) are on the table for each driver in each race.

Behind these drivers, three other drivers sit within striking distance of this 29-point range and could make a splash to break into this group, perhaps well into this group, in the Berlin ePrix.

Here are the three drivers who currently sit between 10th and 12th place in the driver standings. Two of these three drivers have won one race so far this season, as Mahindra Racing’s Pascal Wehrlein, who missed the season-opening Ad Diriyah ePrix, has not yet done so.

Rank – Driver, Car, Team, Manufacturer: Points (Behind, Behind Top 9)
10th – Sam Bird, #2, Envision Virgin Racing, Spark-Audi: 54 (-33, -5)
11th – Edoardo Mortara, #48, Venturi, Spark-Venturi: 52 (-35, -7)
12th – Pascal Wehrlein, #94, Mahindra Racing, Spark-Mahindra: 51 (-36, -8)

With four of the 2018-2019 Formula E season’s 13 races having not yet been contested, the driver championship is still very well up for grabs, and it is anybody’s guess as to who might win this title to conclude the sport’s fifth season of competition.
