Part-time IndyCar driver Ed Jones topped the speed chart in a rain-shortened third practice session for the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500.

Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones topped the speed chart in the third practice session for the crown jewel on the IndyCar schedule, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

This practice session was scheduled to last from 11:00 a.m. ET to 6:00 p.m. ET today, but it ended at around 4:30 p.m. ET as a result of rain. The checkered flag officially came out at roughly 4:45 p.m. ET.

Of the 36 drivers who are on the entry list for this race, 35 completed at least one lap in today’s practice session, as McLaren Racing’s Fernando Alonso, who crashed in yesterday’s practice session, was unable to get out on to the track in his #66 Chevrolet at all today.
