IndyCar: James Hinchcliffe tops sixth 2019 Indy 500 practice (last row)

James Hinchcliffe topped the last row portion of the sixth practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s sixth race, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500.
Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe topped the speed chart in the rain-shortened last row portion of the sixth practice session for the sixth race on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar schedule, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Hinchcliffe topped the speed chart in this practice session by recording a top lap time of 39.4521 seconds (228.125 miles per hour) around the four-turn. 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval in Speedway, Indiana in his #5 Honda.
Of the other five drivers who are set to participate in the Bump Day qualifying session for this year’s running of the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” to try to lock themselves into one of the three positions on the 11th and final row of the starting grid for the race, four participated in this practice session.

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing’s Sage Karam, Carlin teammates Max Chilton and rookie Patricio O’Ward and McLaren Racing’s Fernando Alonso were the four who did so. Juncos Racing’s Kyle Kaiser did not participate in this practice session. All five of these drivers are Chevrolet drivers.
Karam was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of this practice session. He finished in second place in this session on the speed chart by recording a top lap time of 39.4593 (228.083 miles per hour) in his #24 Chevrolet. Chilton, O’Ward and Alonso finished in third, fourth and fifth in their #59 Chevrolet, #31 Chevrolet and #66 Chevrolet, respectively.
O’Ward was the only one of these four drivers who recorded his top lap time with a tow. His top lap time with a tow was 39.8678 seconds (225.746 miles per hour), and his top lap time without a tow was 40.0318 seconds (224.821 miles per hour). Even if he wouldn’t have recorded his top lap time with a tow, he still would have finished in fourth place on the speed chart.
