IndyCar: 2019 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 1 entry list

A season-low total of 22 drivers are set to compete in the seventh race on the 2019 IndyCar schedule, Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 1.

Prior to the crown jewel race on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar schedule, the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500, at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, five races had been contested in the 2019 season.

Of these five races, four featured a total 24 drivers while one, the season’s fourth race on the streets of Long Beach, California, featured a season-low total a 23 drivers.

This Saturday’s race Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 1, at the Raceway on Belle Isle is set to feature a new season-low total of only 22 drivers.

Of the 22 drivers who are set to compete in this 70-lap race around the 14-turn, 2.35-mile (3.782-kilometer) Raceway on Belle Isle temporary street circuit on the streets of Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan, 20 are full-time drivers, of whom 19 have competed in each of the season’s first six races, and two are part-time drivers.

Carlin’s Max Chilton is the only one of the 20 full-time drivers who is set to compete in this race but has not competed in each of the season’s first six races, as he ultimately failed to qualify for the Indy 500.

The two part-time drivers who are set to compete in this race are Carlin rookie Patricio O’Ward and Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones. O’Ward also failed to qualify for the Indy 500, and he also did not compete in the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida. Jones, meanwhile, has competed in each of the season’s first six races.
