IndyCar Team Power Rankings after 2019 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 1
By Asher Fair
How do the IndyCar Team Power Rankings look following the 2019 season’s seventh race, Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 1, at the Raceway on Belle Isle?
After four different teams won the first four races of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season, Team Penske have been the only team to visit victory lane in any of the three races that have been contested since then.
After Simon Pagenaud won the two races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the IndyCar Grand Prix on the track’s road course and the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 on the track’s oval, Josef Newgarden earned his second victory of the season by winning the season’s seventh race, Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix Race 1, at the Raceway on Belle Isle.
Newgarden’s victory in this 43-lap race, which was originally scheduled to be a 70-lap race but became a 75-minute race as a result of rain, around the 14-turn, 2.35-mile (3.782-kilometer) Raceway on Belle Isle temporary street circuit on the streets of Belle Isle in Detroit, Michigan was Team Penske’s fourth victory of the season.
Newgarden earned his first victory of the season by winning the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
