IndyCar: 2019 DXC Technology 600 entry list
By Asher Fair
Just 22 drivers are on the entry list for the 2019 IndyCar season’s ninth race, the DXC Technology 600, at Texas Motor Speedway, tying the season-low.
None of the first six races on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar schedule featured fewer than 23 drivers. In fact, only one, the season’s fourth race on the streets of Long Beach, California, featured fewer than 24 drivers.
But following the 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which featured 33 drivers just as it traditionally does, no race has featured more than 22 drivers. Both races of the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix doubleheader at the Raceway on Belle Isle featured exactly 22 drivers.
Once again, only 22 drivers are set to compete in this Saturday night’s race, the DXC Technology 600, at Texas Motor Speedway, marking the third consecutive race with 22 drivers and the third consecutive race that the season-low driver total has been either set or tied.

There are now only 19 full-time drivers competing in these series, as Carlin’s Max Chilton, who was originally a full-time driver, is now only a road/street course-driver. All 19 of these full-time drivers are set to compete in this race.
The three part-time drivers who are set to compete in this race are not the typical part-time drivers who have been competing on a fairly regular basis this season.
Among these typical part-time drivers are Ed Carpenter Racing Scuderia Corsa’s Ed Jones, Meyer Shank Racing’s Jack Harvey and Carlin rookie Patricio O’Ward, who have competed in eight, six and six races, respectively, so far this season.
But none of these drivers are set to compete in Saturday night’s 248-lap race around the four-turn, 1.44-mile (2.317-kilometer) high-banked Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas.
Instead, Ed Carpenter Racing’s Ed Carpenter and Carlin’s Charlie Kimball are set to compete in this race as the drivers of the #20 Chevrolet and the #23 Chevrolet, respectively, and Conor Daly is set to replace Chilton behind the wheel of the #59 Chevrolet.
The Indy 500 is the only race in which Carpenter and Daly have competed so far this season. Kimball also competed in this race, and the only other race in which he has competed so far this season is the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Here is a list of the 22 drivers who are set to compete in the 2019 DXC Technology 600 at Texas Motor Speedway.
