IndyCar: Zach Veach tops no-tow speed chart in first 2019 Texas practice

Zach Veach topped the no-tow speed chart in the opening practice session for the 2019 IndyCar season’s ninth race, the DXC Technology 600, at Texas Motor Speedway.
Only eight drivers completed laps without a tow in the rain-shortened opening practice session for the ninth race on the 17-race 2019 IndyCar schedule, the DXC Technology 600, at Texas Motor Speedway.
Andretti Autosport’s Zach Veach was the fastest of these eight drivers on the no-tow speed chart in this practice session.
Veach recorded a top lap time of 24.0260 seconds (215.766 miles per hour) around the four-turn, 1.44-mile (2.317-kilometer) high-banked Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas without a tow in his #26 Honda.

Of the eight drivers who completed laps without a tow in this practice session, five are Honda drivers while three are Chevrolet drivers. Veach led a top two Andretti Autosport sweep and a top four Honda sweep on the no-tow speed chart in this session.
Andretti Autosport teammates Alexander Rossi and Ryan Hunter-Reay finished in second and fourth place in their #27 Honda and #28 Honda without a tow in this practice session, and Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe split them up by finishing in third in his #5 Honda.
The fastest Chevrolet driver without a tow in this practice session was Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot, who finished in fifth place in his #21 Chevrolet. His teammate and Ed Carpenter Racing team owner Ed Carpenter finished in seventh without a tow in his #20 Chevrolet. These two teammates were split by Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist, who finished in sixth in his #10 Honda.
The only other driver who completed a lap without a tow in this practice session was Carlin’s Conor Daly, who is making his first start for the team this season behind the wheel of the #59 Chevrolet after Max Chilton announced that he will no longer be competing in oval races. Daly finished in eight place out of these eight drivers.

The 2019 DXC Technology 600’s second and final practice session is scheduled to take place tomorrow from 3:00 p.m. ET to 4:00 p.m. ET. NBC Sports Gold is set to air the live broadcast of this session. NBC Sports Gold is also set to air the live broadcast of qualifying for the race tomorrow evening from 6:30 p.m. ET to 8:00 p.m. ET, as is NBC Sports Network. Qualifying is scheduled to begin at 6:45 p.m. ET.
NBC Sports Network is set to air the live broadcast of the race itself beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET on Saturday night. The 2019 IndyCar season’s ninth race is then scheduled to get underway shortly thereafter at 8:40 p.m. ET.
