IndyCar: Takuma Sato takes pole for 2019 DXC Technology 600

Takuma Sato took the pole position for the 2019 IndyCar season’s ninth race, the DXC Technology 600, at Texas Motor Speedway.
Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato took his second pole position of the 2019 IndyCar season for the 17-race season’s ninth race, the DXC Technology 600, at Texas Motor Speedway tomorrow night.
Sato took the pole position for this 248-lap race around the four-turn, 1.44-mile (2.317-kilometer) high-banked Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas by recording the fastest two-lap average speed of 220.250 miles per hour in the qualifying session for the race in his #30 Honda.
This pole position is the ninth pole position of Sato’s IndyCar career, and it made him the third driver to take two pole positions this season. Only Team Penske’s Will Power and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, neither of whom qualified for tomorrow night’s race in the top 10, have also done so.
Sato led a top four sweep by Honda drivers in this qualifying session. He is set to start the race alongside Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon in second place in his #9 Honda.

Set to share the second row in third and fourth place in their #18 Honda and #28 Honda are Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan’s Sebastien Bourdais and Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay, respectively.
The highest qualifying Chevrolet drivers for this race are set to start on the third row, as Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud and Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot qualified in fifth and sixth place in their #22 Chevrolet and #21 Chevrolet, respectively. They qualified right ahead of fellow Chevrolet driver Josef Newgarden of Team Penske. Newgarden qualified in seventh in his #2 Chevrolet.
Honda drivers are set to round out the rest of the top 12 on the starting grid. Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe, Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal, Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta, Rossi and Andretti Autosport’s Zach Veach are set to start the race in eighth, ninth, 10th, 11th and 12th place in their #5 Honda, #15 Honda, #88 Honda, #27 Honda and #26 Honda, respectively.
