A total of 36 drivers are set to qualify for the 15th of 36 races on the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series schedule, the FireKeepers Casino 400, at Michigan International Speedway, tying the lowest driver total on an entry list so far this season.
This race is the first of two scheduled races at Michigan International Speedway this season. The second race of the season at the track is scheduled to take place on Sunday, August 11. This race is the 23rd race of the season.
For the fifth consecutive race, just six drivers representing three different teams are set to enter the weekend having won at least one race this season. Of these six drivers, four have combined to win 12 of the 14 races that have been contested so far this season, and three of these four drivers have combined to win 10 of them.

For the seventh consecutive race, eight drivers representing four different teams are set to enter the weekend having taken at least one pole position this season. Ever since these eight drivers each took one pole position through the first eight races of the season, nobody other than four of these eight drivers have taken any pole positions.
A total of 31 races have been contested since a polesitter last won a race going back to mid-July of 2018, which is an all-time Cup Series record.
