NASCAR: Greg Biffle ineligible for Triple Truck Challenge bonus at Iowa
By Asher Fair
NASCAR has confirmed that Greg Biffle is ineligible for the Triple Truck Challenge bonus in this Saturday night’s Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway.
Greg Biffle made his return to NASCAR in this past Friday evening’s Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, the SpeedyCash.com 400.
This race was Biffle’s first NASCAR race since he competed in the 2016 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and it was his first Truck Series race since he competed in the 2004 season finale at the same track.
Biffle drove the #51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota in this 167-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) high-banked Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas, and he ended up winning it.

With this race being the first race of the Triple Truck Challenge, which could pay as much as $500,000 if an eligible driver wins each of the three races at Texas Motor Speedway, Iowa Speedway and Gateway Motorsports Park (now World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway), Biffle collected the $50,000 bonus for being victorious.
However, for this Saturday night’s Truck Series race at Iowa Speedway, the M&M’s 200, Biffle will not be eligible to earn the Triple Truck Challenge bonus.
According to NBC Sports, here is what the Iowa Speedway race entry blank had to say about eligibility for the Triple Truck Challenge.
"“In order to be “Eligible” to enter the Triple Truck Challenge Events, a driver must elect on his or her NASCAR Competition Membership and License Application to accumulate NGOTS Driver championship Points for the 2019 season. In order to be eligible for the Triple Truck Challenge bonus the team and driver must enter by the posted entry deadline.”"
Biffle is eligible to earn points in the Truck Series, but for the M&M’s 200, the entry deadline was Tuesday, June 4, and Biffle’s entry in the SpeedyCash400.com was initially intended to be a one-off effort with Kyle Busch Motorsports. As a result, he was not entered into the M&M’s 200 by this date.
There is still no confirmation that Biffle will even compete in Saturday night’s 200-lap race around the four-turn, 0.875-mile (1.408-kilometer) Iowa Speedway oval in Newton, Iowa, and the speculation about him doing so only truly stemmed from the fact that he won the SpeedyCash400.com and is therefore the only driver who can win all three of the races in the Triple Truck Challenge.
He could certainly still compete in the race, but he wouldn’t be eligible to win the Triple Truck Challenge bonus. However, Kyle Busch Motorsports’ two full-time drivers, Todd Gilliland and Harrison Burton, are already entered into this race, and Kyle Busch Motorsports have Christian Eckes and Riley Herbst entered in it as well. As a result, having a fifth team ready in time would be difficult, as team owner Kyle Busch indicated on Saturday.
The M&M’s 200 is set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 from Iowa Speedway beginning at 8:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, June 15.
