Greg Biffle hadn’t competed in a NASCAR Truck Series race since 2004. That didn’t stop him from winning the 2019 SpeedyCash.com 400 at Texas Motor Speedway.

In late March ahead of the 2019 NASCAR Truck Series season’s first race at Texas Motor Speedway, Greg Biffle tested the #51 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota at the track. Kyle Busch Motorsports then signed him to drive the #51 Toyota in the season’s second race there, the SpeedyCash.com 400.

The SpeedyCash.com 400 took place this evening, and it was none other than Biffle who took the checkered flag in his first Truck Series start since the 2004 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway and his first NASCAR start since the 2016 Cup Series season finale at the same venue.

Biffle, who started this 167-lap race around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) high-banked Texas Motor Speedway oval in Fort Worth, Texas in sixth place, won it on fuel mileage by 0.963 seconds over ThorSport Racing’s Matt Crafton, who finished in second in his #88 Ford. This victory was Biffle’s first Truck Series victory since the 2001 season.

DGR-Crosley’s Tyler Ankrum, ThorSport Racing’s Grant Enfinger and Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Harrison Burton rounded out the top five by finishing in third, fourth and fifth place in their #17 Toyota, #98 Ford and #18 Toyota, respectively.

GMS Racing’s Sheldon Creed was the highest finishing Chevrolet driver of the race. He finished in sixth place in his #2 Chevrolet.

On Point Motorsports’ Brennan Poole, Hattori Racing Enterprises’ Austin Hill, Roper Racing’s Cory Roper and Niece Motorsports’ Ross Chastain rounded out the top 10 by finishing in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #30 Toyota, #16 Toyota, #04 Ford and #38 Chevrolet, respectively.

The race featured a total of 12 lead changes among nine drivers. Aside of Biffle, who led 18 laps of the race, eight other drivers led at least one lap.

These eight drivers were Ankrum, Enfinger, Creed, Hill, DGR-Crosley’s Anthony Alfredo, ThorSport Racing teammates Johnny Sauter and Ben Rhodes and Kyle Busch Motorsports’ Todd Gilliland, who started the race from the pole position. Enfinger led more laps than anybody else in the field with 44 laps led. Sauter won stage one and Rhodes won stage two.

The race also featured a season-high 13 caution flag periods, of which 11 took place as a result of on-track incidents and two took place as a result of the usual endings of stages one and two. Of the 32 drivers who started the race, only 18 finished it, and only nine of these 18 drivers finished on the lead lap.
