Will Power took the pole position for the Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the 13th race on the 2019 IndyCar schedule.

Team Penske’s Will Power took his third pole position of the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season for the 13th race on the schedule, the Honda Indy 200, at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He had not taken a pole position since he took the pole positions for the season’s first two races, but he is now tied with teammate Simon Pagenaud for the most pole positions among all drivers this year.

Power took the pole position for this 90-lap race around the 13-turn, 2.258-mile (3.634-kilometer) Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course road course in Lexington, Ohio by recording a top lap time of 65.1569 seconds (124.7573 miles per hour) in his #12 Chevrolet in the third and final round of qualifying, the Firestone Fast Six, for this race.

Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi, the defending winner and dominator of this race, is set to start alongside Power on the front row in second place in his #27 Honda. Team Penske teammates Josef Newgarden and Pagenaud qualified in third and fourth in their #2 Chevrolet and #22 Chevrolet, respectively.

The other two drivers who advanced to the Firestone Fast Six were Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan’s Sebastien Bourdais and Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist. They qualified in fifth and sixth place in their #18 Honda and #10 Honda, respectively.

Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta, Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, Meyer Shank Racing’s Jack Harvey and Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay are set to round out the top 10 on the starting grid after qualifying in seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th place in their #88 Honda, #9 Honda, #60 Honda and #28 Honda, respectively.

Herta and Dixon combined to top the speed chart in all three practice sessions for this race, with Dixon topping the speed chart in the first and Herta topping the speed chart in the second and third.

Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports teammates James Hinchcliffe and rookie Marcus Ericsson were the slowest two drivers of the 12 drivers who advanced to the second round of qualifying for this race. They qualified in 11th and 12th place in their #5 Honda and #7 Honda, respectively, to give Honda nine of the top 12 positions on the starting grid.

The highest qualifying non-Team Penske Chevrolet driver for this race was Ed Carpenter Racing’s Spencer Pigot, who qualified in 13th place in his #21 Chevrolet.
