The details regarding the doubleheader at Pocono Raceway in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season next June have been revealed.

For the first time in NASCAR Cup Series history, the series is set to contest two full-length races at the same track on the same weekend next season. This doubleheader is scheduled to take place at Pocono Raceway on Saturday, June 27 and Sunday, June 28.

The majority of the details pertaining to this doubleheader have been revealed, although a few of them have still not yet been confirmed.

Saturday’s race at the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Pocono Raceway oval in Long Pond, Pennsylvania is set to be a 140-lap race at the track, making it a 350-mile race. Sunday’s race at the track is expected to be the same length, but this has not yet been confirmed.

Stage lengths have also not been confirmed but 45 laps, 45 laps and 50 laps or 40 laps, 40 laps and 60 laps have been rumored as the two most likely options.

The current two races on the Cup Series schedule at Pocono Raceway are in June and July, and they are both 160-lap, 400-mile races.

The starting order for the Saturday race of this doubleheader is slated to be set by a traditional Friday qualifying session. However, the starting order for the Sunday race of this doubleheader is slated to be set in a different fashion, and that is based on where the drivers finish in Saturday’s race.

The drivers who finish Saturday’s race on the lead lap are set to start Sunday’s race at the front of the field, but in reverse order. So if 23 drivers finish Saturday’s race on the lead lap, the race winner will start in 23rd place while the 23rd place finisher will start from the pole position.

Meanwhile, all of the drivers who do not finish Saturday’s race on the lead lap will start Sunday’s race at the back of the pack. Teams must use the same cars for both races.

Before next year’s Pocono Raceway doubleheader, however, there is still one more NASCAR Cup Series race at the track, and that race, the Gander RV 400, is scheduled to take place tomorrow afternoon. It is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network beginning at 3:00 p.m. ET.
