By Asher Fair
Matt DiBenedetto is set to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing in next Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race, the CTECH Manufacturing 180, at Road America.
Matt DiBenedetto signed with Leavine Family Racing for the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series season after the team announced that they would be switching manufacturers from Chevrolet to Toyota and forming a technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing.
Now DiBenedetto is set to drive for Joe Gibbs Racing for the first time in nearly a decade.
The 28-year-old Grass Valley, California native is set to drive the #18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota in next Saturday afternoon’s Xfinity Series race, the CTECH Manufacturing 180, at Road America.
Jeffrey Earnhardt was slated to compete in this race, but he lost his ride behind the wheel of the #18 Toyota after he and sponsor iK9 parted ways last week, which also resulted him losing his ride in this past Saturday’s race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to Jack Hawksworth.
DiBenedetto confirmed this news on Twitter.
