Tony Kanaan topped the speed chart in the one and only practice session for the ABC Supply 500 at Pocono Raceway, the 2019 IndyCar season’s 14th race.

After what was originally scheduled to be the opening practice session for the 17-race 2019 IndyCar season’s 14th race at Pocono Raceway, the ABC Supply 500, ended up being rained out, the qualifying session for this race was canceled, and the lone remaining practice session prior to the race became a two-hour practice session and was moved up slightly.

Fittingly, it was the ABC Supply-sponsored #14 Chevrolet driven by veteran Tony Kanaan of A.J. Foyt Enterprises that was fastest in the lone session of any kind prior to tomorrow afternoon’s race.

Kanaan topped the speed chart in the lone practice session for this 200-lap race around the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) Pocono Raceway oval in Long Pond, Pennsylvania by recording a top lap time of 41.5985 seconds (216.3540 miles per hour).

Behind Kanaan, there were only two Chevrolet drivers who finished in the top 13. Team Penske’s Simon Pagenaud finished in fifth place in his #22 Chevrolet while Carlin’s Charlie Kimball finished in eighth in his #23 Chevrolet.

The Honda drivers who rounded out the top four were Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon, Dale Coyne Racing rookie Santino Ferrucci and Andretti Autosport’s Alexander Rossi. They finished in second, third and fourth place in their #9 Honda, #19 Honda and #27 Honda, respectively.

Harding Steinbrenner Racing rookie Colton Herta and Dale Coyne Racing with Vasser-Sullivan’s Sebastien Bourdais finished in sixth and seventh place in their #88 Honda and #18 Honda, respectively.

Andretti Autosport’s Ryan Hunter-Reay finished in ninth place in his #28 Honda ahead of Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Graham Rahal in 10th in his #15 Honda.

Chip Ganassi Racing rookie Felix Rosenqvist, Andretti Autosport’s Zach Veach and Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports’ James Hinchcliffe gave Honda 10 of the top 13 positions on the speed chart by finishing in 11th, 12th and 13th place in their #10 Honda, #26 Honda and #5 Honda, respectively.

Aside of Pagenaud, Team Penske’s results in this practice session were lackluster. Championship standings leader Josef Newgarden, who is set to start the race from the pole position because the starting lineup was set based on entrant points, finished in 17th place in his #2 Chevrolet. Will Power finished in 20th in his #12 Chevrolet.
