Follow along with our live qualifying updates for the Federated Auto Parts 400 to see who will secure the pole position for the second race of the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs.
The second of 10 races in the 2019 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs and the second of three races in the first of round, the round of 16, of the playoffs is scheduled to take place this Saturday, September 21 at Richmond Raceway following a dramatic playoff opener at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
This Saturday night’s race, the Federated Auto Parts 400, is set to feature 38 drivers, including 33 full-time drivers, of whom 16 are playoff drivers, and an additional five part-time drivers.
Richmond Raceway hosted a race earlier this season in mid-April, and it was Martin Truex Jr., who won this past Sunday’s race, who won this race to secure his first victory as a Joe Gibbs Racing driver. He now leads the series with five wins so far in 2019.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Kyle Busch, who left Las Vegas Motor Speedway more frustrated than anybody, won last year’s playoff race at Richmond Raceway. In fact, he swept last year’s two races at the track.
Richmond Raceway is the sixth track to host two races in the 2019 season. Seven more remain on the playoff schedule, which consists of eight races following this weekend. Of the eight tracks remaining on this year’s schedule, only Homestead-Miami Speedway hasn’t hosted a race yet this year, although Charlotte Motor Speedway could be considered an exception since it hosted a race on its oval course in late May and it is scheduled to host a race on its interior road course/roval next Sunday, September 29.
Entering this Saturday night’s Federated Auto Parts 400, 11 drivers representing six different teams, of whom 10 drivers representing five different teams are playoff drivers, have been victorious this season. Meanwhile, 13 drivers representing six different teams, of whom 10 drivers representing five different teams are playoff drivers, have taken at least one pole position so far in 2019.
Who will take the pole position and who will qualify throughout the rest of the field for this 400-lap race around the four-turn, 0.75-mile (1.207-kilometer) Richmond Raceway oval in Richmond Virginia?
