Will Formula 1 driver Alexander Albon set himself up for a move out of his parents’ home in Milton Keynes with a new Red Bull Racing deal?

Last year at this time, Alexander Albon had a deal to drive for Nissan beginning in the upcoming Formula E season, the Japanese manufacturer’s first season in the FIA-sanctioned all-electric series.

But Red Bull Racing Formula 1 team manager Helmut Marko was able to negotiate with Nissan to get Albon out of what was a three-year contract with the team, much to the chagrin of team principal Jean-Paul Driot.

Albon, who was cut from the Red Bull Racing organization in 2012 after a disappointing season in Formula Renault as a member of the Red Bull Junior Team, was signed by Scuderia Toro Rosso, effectively the Red Bull Racing junior team in Formula 1, for the 2019 season.

The 23-year-old Thai-British driver started the season at Toro Rosso, but after 12 races, he was promoted to Red Bull Racing as the replacement for the struggling Pierre Gasly.

After Gasly managed just five top six finishes and an average finish of 8.50 in these 12 races driving for the Milton Keynes-based team, Albon has taken over and not finished outside of the top six in six attempts, netting himself an average finish of 5.17. He has even outscored teammate Max Verstappen 58-39. Verstappen outscored Gasly 181-63.

Albon’s goal?

To move out of his parents’ house.

Albon currently lives with his parents in Milton Keynes, but he is hoping that he will get a new contract from Red Bull Racing so that he will be able to move out.

Here is what Albon had to say about moving out of his parents’ home, according to Independent.

"“Hopefully in years to come I will earn more money and be able to move out. At the minute I am housebound, family housebound. Milton Keynes is a nice town and close to the Red Bull factory, but how do I say this? There are other places out there. Maybe I need to live somewhere else and have a more extravagant lifestyle? I would definitely like to go to London. I have been thinking about it, but, again, it is about money. I need to score some bonus points.”"

Red Bull Racing have stated multiple times that they are not looking outside of their stable for drivers for next year.

With Marko having confirmed that Daniil Kvyat is set to return to Toro Rosso next season and Albon clearly performing at a higher level than Gasly, who seems to have gotten his mojo back since being demoted to Toro Rosso, retaining Albon would be in Red Bull Racing’s best interest.
