IndyCar: Meyer Shank Racing align with Andretti Autosport for 2020 season
By Asher Fair
Meyer Shank Racing have announced a technical alliance with Andretti Autosport for the full 2020 IndyCar season after previously operating as a part-time team.
As speculated before the 2019 IndyCar season ended, Meyer Shank Racing have confirmed that they have formed a technical alliance with Andretti Autosport for the 2020 season, and the entire 17-race season at that.
The team partnered with Andretti Autosport back in their IndyCar debut in the 2017 Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway to field an entry for Jack Harvey.
The 26-year-old Harvey is the only driver who has ever driven for the team in their 17 starts.

In the 2018 and 2019 seasons, Meyer Shank Racing had a technical alliance with Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports to field the #60 Honda for Harvey on a part-time basis.
They fielded the #60 Honda in six races in the 2018 season before upping their commitment to 10 races in the 2019 season.
But Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports announced in August that they would be ending their contract with Honda one year early to form a partnership with McLaren to create Arrow McLaren Racing SP, leaving Meyer Shank Racing without a technical alliance since team co-owner Michael Shank wanted to remain with Honda.
Now this new technical alliance has come to fruition with a Honda-powered team that have already expanded to field five cars of their own for next year.
Additionally, Harvey is set to continue to drive for the team. He has made 19 starts and recorded four top 10 finishes, all in 2019, throughout his career, including a career-high third place finish in the race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course. He made two starts not associated with Meyer Shank Racing late in the 2017 season driving for Schmidt Peterson Motorsports.
He also confirmed that this is a two-year deal that runs through the 2021 season.
What kind of results will Meyer Shank Racing and Jack Harvey be able to attain in their first full season together with their technical alliance with Andretti Autosport? The 2020 IndyCar season is scheduled to begin on Sunday, March 15 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida with the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg. Harvey has competed in this race twice, and he finished in 10th place in it this past season.
