By Asher Fair
Former full-time NASCAR Truck Series driver Myatt Snider is set to drive part-time for Richard Childress Racing in the 2020 Xfinity Series season.
After competing full-time in the NASCAR Truck Series for ThorSport Racing in the 2018 season and winning the Rookie of the Year Award, Myatt Snider ended up competing full-time in Whelen Euro Elite 2 in 2019 for Racing Engineering.
Now the 24-year-old Charlotte, North Carolina is set to return to NASCAR’s top three national series in the 2020 season, and he is set to do so in the Xfinity Series.
Snider is set to drive part-time for Richard Childress Racing next year with sponsorship from TaxSlayer. He has never previously competed in any Xfinity Series races, and his series debut is scheduled to be the 2020 season opener at Daytona International Speedway, although the rest of his scheduled throughout the 33-race season has not been solidified.
Here is what Snider had to say about this opportunity, according to Motorsport.
"“I am thrilled to be driving for Richard Childress Racing in 2020. It’s an honor to drive for a team with such a rich history in the sport, and I’m excited to start learning from everyone. After a great season of racing in Europe this past year, I’m excited to be back home and moving up to the NASCAR Xfinity Series. I know the season just ended, but 2020 is shaping up to be an excellent year. I’m just ready for Daytona to get here as soon as possible.”"

In total, he has competed in 35 Truck Series races, including his debut for AM Racing in the 2016 season and eight more races for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the 2017 season prior to his full-time effort in 2018. He has recorded four top five finishes, including a career-high finish of second place at Talladega Superspeedway in the 2018 season, and 13 top 10 finishes. He has led 81 of the 4,807 laps that he has completed and recorded an average starting position of 14.6 and an average finishing position of 13.9.
Myatt Snider is set to make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut in the NASCAR Racing Experience 300, which is scheduled to open up the 2020 season on Saturday, February 15. This race is set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1 beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET from Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Richard Childress Racing are still expected to field a full-time entry next year even though Tyler Reddick, who won the 2019 championship driving the #2 Chevrolet for the team, is set to replace Daniel Hemric at the Cup Series team behind the wheel of the #8 Chevrolet.
