Tyler Reddick secured his second consecutive NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with his win in the 2019 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Richard Childress Racing’s Tyler Reddick secured the 2019 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship with his victory in the 33rd and final race of the season, the Ford EcoBoost 300, at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

This victory was Reddick’s sixth victory of the season and the ninth of his career, and his championship was his second in two seasons as a full-time Xfinity Series driver, as he also won last year’s title with two victories driving for JR Motorsports. Reddick is the first driver in Xfinity Series history to win championships driving for two different teams.

Reddick started this 200-lap Championship 4 season finale around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) Homestead-Miami Speedway oval in Homestead, Florida from the pole position in his #2 Chevrolet, and after leading 84 laps, he won it by 1.038 seconds over Stewart-Haas Racing’s Cole Custer in second place in his #00 Ford.

The 23-year-old Corning, California native simply needed to finish ahead of the other three Championship 4 competitors in this race to secure his second consecutive title, and winning took care of that, just as it did last year.

The other three Championship 4 drivers were Custer, Joe Gibbs Racing’s Christopher Bell and JR Motorsports’ Justin Allgaier. Reddick also beat Custer and Bell in last year’s Championship 4.

Like last year, Custer, who won the 2017 season finale as a non-Championship 4 driver, finished in second place behind Reddick in the championship standings with a second place finish in this race. After finishing in fourth in the standings with an 11th place finish in the season finale last year, Bell finished in third in the standings with a fifth place result.

A late flat tire knocked Allgaier out of the top seven late in the race, and he had to settle for a 14th place finish. He was the only Championship 4 driver who did not lead any laps of the race. In addition to Reddick leading 84 laps, Custer led 15 and Bell led 37.
