While no specifics have been confirmed, Dreyer & Reinbold Racing have stated that Sage Karam will be back with the team in the 2020 IndyCar season.

Dreyer & Reinbold Racing recently took to Twitter to announce that their commitment in the 2020 IndyCar season will be greater than it has been in the series over the last several seasons, with each of the last six years featuring the team in only the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

They did not reveal specifics in their post, but team owner Dennis Reinbold did state to RACER that the plan is for the team to compete in four races throughout the 17-race season, which would be the most since they fielded an entry for Oriol Servia in the first five races of the 2013 campaign.

These races include the season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida as well as the two races at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, the road course race and the Indy 500, and the race on the streets of Toronto.

Despite no official announcement about the matter yet, as indicated in the tweet above, Reinbold did confirm one of their drivers in what is presumably going to be a two-car lineup, which it has been since 2018 after they fielded only one car in the Indy 500 from 2012 to 2017.

Sage Karam, who made his IndyCar debut with the team in the 2014 Indy 500 as a 19-year-old and has driven for the team in five of the last six Indy 500s, only not doing so in 2015 when he drove part-time for Chip Ganassi Racing, is slated to return, pending an official announcement by the team.

Here is what Reinbold had to say, according to RACER.

"“Sage will be back, and we’re working on J.R.”"

J.R. is, of course, J.R. Hildebrand, who has driven for the team alongside Karam in the last two Indy 500 races and has competed in each Indy 500 going back to his infamous debut in 2011 when he crashed with the lead in the final turn on the final lap, relinquishing the lead and win to the late Dan Wheldon in the final few yards before the yard of bricks.

Up until last year, Karam had competed solely in the Indy 500 since 2016, and he had only not competed solely in the Indy 500 in 2015. But he landed a deal with Carlin after last year’s running of the race to drive for the team on the streets of Toronto and at Iowa Speedway, the latter being the site of his career-high third place effort back in 2015.
