NASCAR: David Ragan secures sponsorship for Daytona 500
He may have stepped away from full-time NASCAR Cup Series racing, but David Ragan has secured sponsorship that would give him a chance to race his way into the Daytona 500.
Select Blinds, a custom window shade and blind company, is set to sponsor two-time NASCAR Cup Series race winner David Ragan as he attempts to find a car to race in what would be his 14th consecutive Daytona 500.
The company was the primary sponsor on Ragan’s #38 Ford at Front Row Motorsports last season in select races, including last year’s season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Rick Steele, the co-founder and CMO of Select Blinds, announced the news on his Facebook page, stating that he and Ragan are “back to make things right” after a crash that took them out of the 2019 Daytona 500 with only 10 laps to go.

While there was initially no confirmation regarding what team Ragan would be driving for nor a confirmation through Ragan’s social media pages on the sponsorship, it has been confirmed that he will drive the #36 Ford for Rick Ware Racing in a partnership with Front Row Motorsports.
Back on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, Ragan announced that he would be retiring from full-time competition after the 2019 season so that he could focus on his family, being a husband and a father to two young girls. Ragan also, however, stated that “it’s not over”, in a statement that was issued by NASCAR.
He ended his full-time career that dates back to 2007 with two wins, one in the Coke Zero 400 at Daytona International Speedway in July of 2011 and another in the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in May of 2013.
The entry list for this race is now at 42 cars, meaning that at least two drivers will go home.
The notable cars we know as of now that do not have a charter but plan to enter the Daytona 500 include the Kaulig Racing car, the Beard Motorsports car, the two MBM Motorsports cars and the Jonathan Byrd’s Racing with Hayward Motorsports car as well as an additional Rick Ware Racing car, which the team plan to run full-time in 2020.
The Daytona 500, the “Super Bowl of NASCAR racing”, is scheduled to kick off the 2020 Cup Series season on Sunday, February 16, with live coverage from Daytona International Speedway set to be brought to you by Fox beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET.
