IndyCar: Conor Daly linked to Carlin oval seat
By Asher Fair
Conor Daly is believed to be in line to compete in the four non-Indy 500 oval races for Carlin throughout the 2020 IndyCar season.
The current situations of Carlin and Conor Daly for the 2020 IndyCar season could result in a deal being put together with one another that resembles the deal they ended up with last year.
Carlin have confirmed that Felipe Nasr and Sergio Sette Camara are set to share the #31 Chevrolet, one of the team’s two full-time cars, although the specific races for each driver have not yet been confirmed.
Before that, they confirmed that Max Chilton is set to be back with the team for the third consecutive season, this time as the full-time road and street course driver of the #59 Chevrolet. He is also set to pilot the #59 Chevrolet in the Indianapolis 500.

Meanwhile, Daly signed a Chilton-like deal with Ed Carpenter Racing in December. He is set to drive the #20 Chevrolet in the 12 road and street course races on the 17-race schedule, and he is set to pilot a separate entry in the Indy 500.
As a result, it is believed that Carlin could sign Daly to compete in the other four oval races on the schedule, a deal that would effectively make Daly the 21st confirmed full-time driver.
Those four races are set to take place at Texas Motor Speedway, Richmond Raceway, Iowa Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, and they are scheduled to take place on Saturday, June 6, Saturday, June 27, Saturday, July 18 and Saturday, August 22.
Daly competed in the four non-Indy 500 oval races on the 2019 schedule for Carlin, the only difference being that Richmond Raceway did not host a race while Pocono Raceway did. He finished in 11th place at Texas Motor Speedway, 13th at Iowa Speedway, 11th at Pocono Raceway and sixth at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.
With the first non-Indianapolis 500 oval race of the 2020 IndyCar season not being the ninth of 17 races on the schedule and not scheduled to take place until early June, a deal is not necessarily imminent, but it could still be confirmed in the near future.
