IndyCar: Felipe Nasr lands part-time Carlin ride for 2020
By Asher Fair
Former Formula 1 driver Felipe Nasr is set to make his IndyCar debut in the 2020 season driving part-time for Carlin.
Felipe Nasr, who tested an IndyCar for Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course last July, is set to compete in IndyCar for the first time in the 2020 season.
The 27-year-old Brazilian, who currently competes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and previously spent two years competing for Sauber in Formula 1, is set to drive part-time for Carlin behind the wheel of the #31 Chevrolet. He is set to participate in Spring Training at Circuit of the Americas later this week.
Nasr drove for Carlin from 2011 to 2014 in various series, including the British Formula 3 Championship in 2011, the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2012 and the GP2 Series in 2013 and 2014.

The races in which Nasr is slated to compete have not yet been revealed, but it has been confirmed that he is set to share his seat with Sergio Sette Camara.
Aside of the confirmation that Max Chilton is set to drive the #59 Chevrolet in the 12 road and street course races and in the Indianapolis 500, Carlin have not confirmed any particular races for any of their drivers for the upcoming year.
It has been speculated that Carlin will hire Conor Daly to drive the #59 Chevrolet in the other four oval races on the schedule, just as he did in 2019.
Daly is already set to drive the #20 Chevrolet for Ed Carpenter Racing in the 12 road and street course races and a separate entry in the Indy 500 this season with team owner Ed Carpenter set to drive the #20 Chevrolet in each of the five oval races for the seventh consecutive year.
But whether or not this deal happens, the confirmations of Chilton, Nasr and Sette Camara have solidified the fact that Carlin will not enter the 2020 season with any full-time drivers.
The 2020 IndyCar season opener, the Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg, is scheduled to take place on Sunday, March 15, and it is set to be broadcast live on NBC Sports Network from the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET.
