Pippa Mann is still aiming to be back in the Indy 500 this May despite previously saying that a return for the 104th running of the race was unlikely.

In January, Pippa Mann stated that it was not likely that she would be behind the wheel for the 104th running of the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in May.

The 36-year-old Briton has attempted to compete in the 200-lap race around the four-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) every year since 2013, only failing to do so in heartbreaking fashion back in 2018. She made her IndyCar and Indy 500 debut in 2011 but did not attempt the event in 2012.

But while she still has nothing lined up with the race now just over two and a half months away, Mann has vowed that she is still trying to put together a deal to be back this year.

As of now, there are 32 confirmed cars on the entry list for this year’s Indy 500, and there are 30 confirmed drivers. There are still four other speculated entries that could very well be added, but Mann has not been linked to any of them.

However, six of her eight Indy 500 attempts came with Dale Coyne Racing, and they typically field at least three cars for the race.

So far, they have only confirmed their two full-time drivers, Santino Ferrucci and rookie Alex Palou, so a third entry for them could be a possibility for Mann.

She last attempted the race with Dale Coyne’s team in 2018 when she failed to qualify. She last competed for the team in the race itself in 2017 en route to a then career-best 17th place finish. Her 2019 effort, which netted her a career-best 16th place finish, was with Clauson-Marshall Racing.
