Felipe Nasr is set to make his IndyCar debut driving for Carlin in the 2020 season opener on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.

Last month, Felipe Nasr was rumored to be in the mix for a part-time ride behind the wheel of the #31 Chevrolet at Carlin for the 17-race 2020 IndyCar season.

Nasr, who currently competes in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and previously spent two years driving for Sauber in Formula 1, later tested for the team in Spring Training at Circuit of the Americas and then again a few weeks later at Sebring International Raceway.

Now it has been confirmed that the 27-year-old Brazilian is, in fact, slated to make his IndyCar debut for Carlin in the 2020 season.

Nasr is set to drive the #31 Chevrolet in this Sunday afternoon’s season-opening Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida.

More from IndyCar

Nasr previously drove for Carlin in various series from 2011 to 2014, including the British Formula 3 Championship in 2011, the Formula 3 Euro Series in 2012 and the GP2 Series in 2013 and 2014.

Beyond this 110-lap race around the 14-turn, 1.8-mile (2.897-kilometer) temporary street circuit on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, however, nothing has been confirmed about the plans for the #31 Chevrolet or for Nasr in IndyCar. The team did shore up their driver lineup for the #59 Chevrolet earlier today as well.

After confirming Max Chilton last month on 13-race deal that includes the 12 road and street course races and the Indianapolis 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, they announced that Conor Daly is set to compete in the four non-Indy 500 oval races at Texas Motor Speedway, Richmond Raceway, Iowa Speedway and World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, making him a full-time driver since he is set to compete for Ed Carpenter Racing in the 13 races Chilton is set to compete for Carlin.
