Formula 1: 2020 schedule update
By Asher Fair
As a result of the coronavirus pandemic, several changes have been made to the 2020 Formula 1 schedule. Stay up to date by checking back here periodically.
While other sports leagues such as the NBA, NHL and MLB had suspended their seasons amid the coronavirus pandemic, Formula 1 appeared to be ready to roll this past weekend at Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit for the 2020 season-opening Australian Grand Prix.
That quickly changed, and the end of the domino effect that resulted is still unknown.
A McLaren employee, who, in one of the rare pieces of great news in recent days, is recovering well, tested positive for COVID-19 in Melbourne ahead of the race weekend.

This led to McLaren withdrawing from the race, and the majority of the sport’s other nine teams then opted not to continue on with the event.
For some reason, it was then announced that the race would be contested without fans. But after the teams decided not to race, it was basically a foregone conclusion that the race would be cancelled, and that is what ultimately ended up happening after several hours.
But this wasn’t the only race that was affected.
