NASCAR: Unofficial iRacing championship standings after Dover
By Asher Fair
How do the unofficial eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series championship standings look after William Byron’s third victory in four virtual NASCAR races?
What had been slated to be the sixth and final race of NASCAR‘s virtual racing series, eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, was actually the penultimate race, as a race at virtual North Wilkesboro Speedway was added to the schedule for next Saturday, May 9.
The sixth of seven races on the schedule took place on Sunday afternoon at virtual Dover International Speedway, and as most races have been as of late, it was won by William Byron.
Byron has now won three of the last four races, and he has led the most laps in five of the six events that have been contested so far. In fact, he has led more laps than all of the other drivers combined. Hendrick Motorsports have now won four consecutive races, as Alex Bowman won last Sunday afternoon’s race at virtual Talladega Superspeedway.

Sunday’s race at the four-turn, 1.0-mile (1.609-kilometer) oval in Dover, Delaware was a 150 lap race, and Byron led 79 of the laps after starting in eighth place. He made a late charge past Timmy Hill to secure the victory.
Hill won the race at virtual Texas Motor Speedway after moving Byron out of the way late, and he placed second to Byron in the race at virtual Richmond Raceway. He leads the unofficial championship standings ahead of Byron in second with just one finish outside of the top three.
A total of 51 drivers have competed in at least one of the six races of this series so far. Of these 51 drivers, 21 have competed in each race while eight have competed in five, two have competed in four, two have competed in three, nine have competed in two and nine have competed in only one.
Of the nine drivers who have competed in only one race thus far, only one competed in the race at virtual Dover International Speedway. That lone driver, Regan Smith, finished in 31st place.
There are no official championship standings being kept for the eNASCAR iRacing Pro Invitational Series, but let’s take a look at what they would look like following the race at virtual Dover International Speedway if NASCAR’s scoring system were being used.
