The Alsco Uniforms 500 NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been postponed to tomorrow evening due to rain.

Tropical Storm Bertha has caused Wednesday night’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway to be postponed until tomorrow evening.

This race, the Alsco Uniforms 500, had been slated to get underway at 8:00 p.m. ET this evening, but it has been postponed until tomorrow at 7:00 p.m. ET. Fox Sports 1 is still slated to broadcast it live.

The starting lineup for this race was set based on the finishing order of Sunday night’s 405-lap Coca-Cola 600 around the four-turn, 1.5-mile (2.414-kilometer) oval in Concord, North Carolina.

The top 20 finishers from that race are slated to line up in the top 20 tomorrow evening, but in reverse order. Race winner Brad Keselowski is set to start in 20th place in his #2 Team Penske Ford while 20th place finisher William Byron is set to start from the pole position in his #24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

This is certainly not the first time that rain has interfered with a Cup Series race this season, or even since the sport returned to action amid the coronavirus pandemic following a 10-week hiatus last Sunday, May 17 at Darlington Raceway.

The season-opening Daytona 500 was suspended on Sunday, February 16 and moved to Monday, February 17, and the Saturday qualifying session for the following Sunday’s race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway was rained out.

Then last Wednesday night at Darlington Raceway, the start of the race was delayed after it had initially been moved up due to the threat of rain. Most recently, at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, the race was halted early on due to rain. It resumed just over an hour later, but this delay caused it to run into early Monday morning.
