Rain at Charlotte Motor Speedway caused one big shift in the upcoming NASCAR race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway. Here’s a look at the updated schedule.

At this point in the 2020 NASCAR season, a list of races which have not been impacted by rain in some way would be shorter than a list of races impacted by rain.

Both venues which have held races since NASCAR returned amid the coronavirus pandemic, Darlington Raceway and Charlotte Motor Speedway, saw rain force NASCAR to stick around for an extra day.

The plan was to leave Darlington Raceway by Wednesday, May 20, but the Xfinity Series race ended up being moved from Tuesday, May 19 to Thursday, May 21.

The plan was to leave Charlotte Motor Speedway by Wednesday, May 27, but the second Cup Series race was moved from that evening to Thursday, May 28.

Rain hasn’t officially impacted the upcoming race weekend at Bristol Motor Speedway — yet — but the weekend schedule has already been impacted by the Wednesday night rainout at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Due to the travel and setup changes associated with sticking around at Charlotte Motor Speedway one day longer than initially planned, the Xfinity Series race which was originally scheduled to take place at Bristol Motor Speedway beginning at 3:30 p.m. ET this afternoon has been pushed back.

This 300-lap Cheddar’s 300 presented by Alsco around the four-turn, 0.533-mile (0.858-kilometer) high-banked oval one Bristol, Tennessee has been moved to Monday, June 1, and it is now scheduled to get underway at 7:00 p.m. ET.

By and large, NASCAR’s stay at “The Last Great Colosseum” has already been extended by an extra day, as instead of wrapping up the race weekend, the Cup Series is set to open it up tomorrow afternoon.

The 500-lap Food City presents the Supermarket Heroes 500 is scheduled to take place as originally planned. It is set to get underway at 3:30 p.m. ET.

Both of these races are set to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 1. There will not be any practice sessions nor qualifying sessions for either race, and random draws will set the starting lineups. Brad Keselowski drew the pole position for the Cup Series race. Harrison Burton drew the pole position for the Xfinity Series race.

Of course, rain is still a possibility. But fortunately, any delays in this new schedule would cause less of a headache for NASCAR than in recent weeks, as there are no midweek races on the schedule during the upcoming week.

Action is scheduled to pick back up again on Saturday, June 6 at Atlanta Motor Speedway with a Truck Series race and an Xfinity Series race before a Cup Series race the following afternoon.
