NASCAR set for historic day with Pocono tripleheader
By Asher Fair
NASCAR is set for a historic Sunday tripleheader at Pocono Raceway that has never been seen before in the history of the sport.
Rain is a word that has been used a lot in relation to NASCAR racing in recent weeks, and Pocono Raceway, where the weather is never even remotely reliable, provided us with more of that four-letter word yesterday.
As a result, the Pocono Organics 150 Truck Series race at the three-turn, 2.5-mile (4.023-kilometer) triangle in Long Pond, Pennsylvania which was scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. ET was postponed until today at 9:30 a.m. ET. Fortunately, the Pocono Organics 325 Cup Series race took place, despite a slight delay from its initial 3:30 p.m. ET start time.
Assuming that the weather cooperates today, there are now three races slated to be held today at Pocono Raceway, one race at each of the highest three levels of the sport.

The Pocono Green 225 Xfinity Series race is scheduled to get underway at 12:30 p.m. ET and the Pocono 350 Cup Series race is scheduled to get underway at 4:00 p.m. ET.
In addition to this weekend marking the first ever Cup Series doubleheader, in that never before in the history of the sport had two races at NASCAR’s highest level been contested on the same weekend, it is also set to mark the first ever same-track tripleheader for the three national series.
Never before have the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and Truck Series run races on the same day at the same track. Cup Series racing has been around since 1949 while Xfinity Series racing was introduced in 1992 and Truck Series racing was introduced in 1995.
On four previous occasions, these three series were all in action on the same day, but at multiple locations.
Fox Sports 1 is set to broadcast all of today’s tripleheader action live from the Tricky Triangle. These three races are the sixth of 23 races on the Truck Series schedule, the 12th of 33 races on the Xfinity Series schedule and the 15th of 36 races on the Cup Series schedule.
