Former Chip Ganassi Racing NASCAR Cup Series driver Kyle Larson has disabled both his Twitter account and his Instagram account.

Kyle Larson saw his tenure as the driver of the #42 Chevrolet for Chip Ganassi Racing’s NASCAR Cup Series team come to an abrupt end during the 10-week hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic just four races into the 2020 season.

During a virtual NASCAR race on iRacing which was being live streamed on multiple Twitch channels on Sunday, April 12, Larson uttered a racial slur, and it spread quicker than wildfire.

Shortly thereafter, Chip Ganassi Racing suspended him indefinitely without pay and NASCAR suspended him as well, adding that he must complete sensitivity training before being allowed back behind the wheel.

Larson took to Twitter to issue an apology in a video. But things only got worse and worse for the 27-year-old Elk Grove, California native.

After Larson was cut by multiple sponsors, most notably McDonald’s and Credit One Bank, Chip Ganassi’s hand was practically forced, and he fired him before announcing 2003 champion Matt Kenseth as his replacement for the remaining 32 races of the 2020 season. While Larson did complete the sensitivity training required for his reinstatement, he remains suspended indefinitely by NASCAR, although that doesn’t look like it really matters at this point given that he clearly won’t be back this season.

Larson did not immediately comment about his firing publicly. He still hasn’t addressed that situation. On social media, his most recent post is the aforementioned apology video, which was released before he was officially fired by Chip Ganassi Racing.

And now his Twitter account, @KyleLarsonRacin, and his Instagram account, @KyleLarson42, no longer exist. Because of his account deactivation, that video is no longer available through his page.

Larson has been competing in quite a bit of dirt racing lately after losing his NASCAR ride, and he has been winning races regularly. But even his dirt racing team’s accounts, @KLRteam on Twitter and @klr_team on Instagram, have no posts since prior to the incident.

It is unclear when Larson will be reinstated by NASCAR, and it is unclear if a team would sign him if and when he is. Stewart-Haas Racing, particularly Tony Stewart, showed interest in him several years ago, and the four-car Ford team have been rumored as his most likely landing spot should he return.
