IndyCar is set for another doubleheader this weekend at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway, the third doubleheader of the 2020 season and the second at an oval.

The two 200-lap races of the Bommarito Automotive Group Race to MEGA Savings 250s around the four-turn, 1.25-mile (2.012-kilometer) oval in Madison, Illinois, which was originally supposed to host only one 248-lap race, are scheduled to take place today and tomorrow.

The first two doubleheaders of the year took place back in July, with the first having taken place at Road America and the second having taken place at Iowa Speedway.

More from IndyCar

For the doubleheader at the Iowa Speedway oval, IndyCar introduced a unique qualifying format. Each driver still completed two laps around the track, but the lap average meant nothing in terms of the starting lineup for either race.

Each driver’s first lap was used to determine his starting position in the first race while each driver’s second lap was used to determine his starting position in the second. That is the qualifying format that is slated to be used again this weekend.

Through the first seven races of the season, Chevrolet have taken six pole positions, including four with Team Penske (three with Josef Newgarden and one with Will Power), one with Arrow McLaren SP (Pato O’Ward) and one with Carlin (Conor Daly), while Honda have taken one with Andretti Herta Autosport (Marco Andretti).

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing’s Takuma Sato, who won the 104th running of the Indy 500 this past Sunday at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, won last year’s race at World Wide Technology Raceway at Gateway.

Who will take the pole positions for these two 200-lap races, and who will qualify where throughout the rest of the 23-driver starting lineups?
