Dalton Kellett’s rookie IndyCar season is not completely in the books despite A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ signing of Sebastien Bourdais.

A.J. Foyt Enterprises signed four-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais to compete full-time behind the wheel of the #14 Chevrolet in the 2021 IndyCar season, and Bourdais, who had been slated to drive part-time for the team this year before the coronavirus pandemic struck, is set to make his debut for the team in a few weeks.

The 40-year-old Frenchman is set to drive the #14 Chevrolet in each of the three remaining races on the 2020 schedule, including the two races of the doubleheader at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course and the season finale on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, a race in which he was initially slated to compete this year when it was on the schedule as the opener.

But while rookie Dalton Kellett was initially slated to drive the #14 Chevrolet in the doubleheader, his season is not over.

The 27-year-old Canadian is set to compete alongside Bourdais and full-time driver Charlie Kimball, who drives the #4 Chevrolet, behind the wheel of the #41 Chevrolet in these two races on Friday, October 2 and Saturday, October 3 instead.

He has competed in six of the first 11 races of the season, and he has split the driving duties of the #14 Chevrolet with Tony Kanaan for the most part, with him behind the wheel for the road course races and Kanaan behind the wheel for the oval races. However, with Kanaan behind the wheel of the #14 Chevrolet, he piloted the #41 Chevrolet in the Indy 500 in what is A.J. Foyt Enterprises’ only race with three entries so far this year.

Kellett finished in a career-high 20th place in both races of the doubleheader at Road America. In his series debut, which came at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, he finished in 21st.

His Indy 500 debut ended with an early wreck and he was scored in 31st place. He finished in 22nd and 21st, respectively, in the two races of the doubleheader at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course this past weekend.
