Ross Chastain 2021 landing spots: Stewart-Haas Racing

Of the five possible landing spots for Ross Chastain discussed in this article, this one is the least likely, but it is one that can’t be ignored for a number of reasons.

First of all, it isn’t likely that Chastain would leave Chip Ganassi Racing, one of the more consistent teams in the Cup Series, for a lesser team, and Stewart-Haas Racing have been arguably the sport’s top organization this year.

Secondly, only three of their four drivers are under contract for next year, with those three drivers being 2014 champion Kevin Harvick, rookie Cole Custer and Aric Almirola. Clint Bowyer is, once again, driving on one-year deals, and he has not won a race since the 2018 season.

Finally, Stewart-Haas Racing were the only one of the sport’s top five teams (the other four being Chip Ganassi Racing, Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske and Hendrick Motorsports) to make a driver lineup change after last season, and they have now switched up their lineup after four consecutive seasons.

While they have several options from which to choose to put behind the wheel of the #14 Ford, many of the speculated candidates to drive those cars outside of Bowyer have been linked to other seats as well.

If things fall his way, Chastain could end up here in 2020.

Where will Ross Chastain end up competing in the 2021 NASCAR season? Will he remain in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing? If he is promoted to the Cup Series, will he do so with Chip Ganassi Racing or perhaps on loan from the team, or will he do so with an entirely new organization?
