NASCAR: The drivers already under contract for 2021

With five races remaining in the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season, 22 drivers have confirmed full-time rides for next year. Here’s brief rundown.
We are in the middle of the 2020 NASCAR Cup Series playoffs, and with that comes the reality that we are also in the middle of Silly Season.
Quite a few drivers have been confirmed in the 2021 driver lineup, including a few who were already under contract for next year coming into the 2020 season, several who have signed contract extensions at some point this season and one who has signed with a new team for 2021.
While there is still quite a bit that has not yet been solidified as far as the 2021 driver lineup is concerned and quite a lot of change is expected within the coming weeks, here is a brief rundown of the 22 drivers who have been confirmed for next year.
Chip Ganassi Racing
- #1 Chevrolet: Kurt Busch – signed a two-year extension in November of 2019
- #42 Chevrolet: Ross Chastain – signed a contract in September of 2020
Hendrick Motorsports
- #9 Chevrolet: Chase Elliott – signed a multi-year deal that runs through 2022 in June of 2017
- #24 Chevrolet: William Byron – signed an extension that runs through 2022 in August; had been under contract through 2021
- #48 Chevrolet: Alex Bowman – signed a one-year extension in May; move from #88 Chevrolet to #48 Chevrolet confirmed in October

- #6 Ford: Ryan Newman – signed a multi-year deal that runs through at least 2021 in October of 2018
- #17 Ford: Chris Buescher – signed a multi-year deal in September of 2019
StarCom Racing
- #00 Chevrolet: Quin Houff – signed a two-year deal in November of 2019
Stewart-Haas Racing
- #4 Ford: Kevin Harvick – signed a multi-year extension that runs through 2023 in February
- #10 Ford: Aric Almirola – signed a one-year extension in September
- #41 Ford: Cole Custer – signed a multi-year deal in November of 2019
Team Penske
- #2 Ford: Brad Keselowski – signed a one-year extension in August
- #12 Ford: Ryan Blaney – signed a multi-year extension in March
- #22 Ford: Joey Logano – signed a multi-year extension that runs through 2023 in February of 2017
Team owned by Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin
- #TBD TBD: Bubba Wallace – signed a multi-year deal in September
- Team purchased charter from Germain Racing
With 22 drivers having deals to compete in the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season, there are still 14 chartered entries without confirmed drivers. There is naturally still plenty of uncertainty pertaining to the rest of the lineup, especially with the futures of a few teams up in the air. Who will join these 22 drivers and sign to compete in the sport next year, and where will the remaining competitors end up?
