A new NASCAR Cup Series team owned by former driver Justin Marks, Trackhouse Racing Team, is slated to be announced later today.

The NASCAR Cup Series is slated to officially add another team. Enterpreneur and former professional driver Justin Marks is set to announce Trackhouse Racing Team.

According to Sports Business Journal’s Adam Stern, who broke the news that a Marks-owned team would be on the way back in mid-August, that announcement is slated to come later today.

It is unknown who their driver will be or whether or not that will be announced today as well, but according to Stern, current Gaunt Brothers Racing driver Daniel Suarez is seen as the top candidate to land that ride.

Marks had reportedly tried to purchase Leavine Family Racing’s assets before they were sold to Spire Motorsports, so it is also unknown whether this announcement will include details about a charter or a technical alliance.

On the team’s Twitter account, they also hinted at a Wednesday, October 7 confirmation last Thursday, posting a picture of the team logo.

More from NASCAR Cup Series

The 39-year-old St. Louis Missouri native has competed in all three of NASCAR’s national series, retiring after the 2018 season following a second place finish in the inaugural Xfinity Series race at the Charlotte Motor Speedway Roval.

He made six Cup Series starts over four years, 35 Xfinity Series starts over nine years and 38 Truck Series starts over six years. His lone win came in the 2016 Xfinity Series race at Road America. His career-best Cup Series result was 12th place in the 2018 Daytona 500 at Daytona International Speedway and his career-best Truck Series results were his eighth place finishes at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2007 and Daytona International Speedway in 2008.

The confirmation of Trackhouse Racing Team would be the second confirmation of a new team for the 2021 season. NBA legend and NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin teamed up to purchase a charter from Germain Racing, which will no longer operate after the 2020 season, and they are set to start a new team for 2021 with Bubba Wallace as the driver. No additional details have been announced about that deal.
