Felix Rosenqvist has been tipped to replace Oliver Askew at Arrow McLaren SP behind the wheel of the #7 Chevrolet for the 2021 IndyCar season.

Last week, multiple sources reported that Felix Rosenqvist is slated to depart from Chip Ganassi Racing after just two years and join Arrow McLaren SP as the replacement for Oliver Askew behind the wheel of the #7 Chevrolet in the 2021 IndyCar season.

Arrow McLaren SP have already confirmed that Askew will not be back behind the wheel of the #7 Chevrolet next year, and Rosenqvist had not signed an extension with Chip Ganassi’s team to continue driving the #10 Honda.

No confirmations have been made by either Chip Ganassi Racing or Arrow McLaren SP, but with the 2020 season finale coming up this Sunday, October 25 on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, it is expected that this announcement will be made in the very near future.

Askew, who missed the last two races with concussion-like symptoms, is expected to compete in the season finale, provided he is medically cleared, in what would be a farewell to the team with which he has spent his rookie season.

Arrow McLaren SP have already confirmed that Pato O’Ward is set to be back behind the wheel of the #5 Chevrolet next year for a second season with the team.

Rosenqvist was the 2019 Rookie of the Year after finishing in sixth place in the championship standings with top finishes of second at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and Portland International Raceway.

The 28-year-old Swede earned his first career victory this season at Road America in mid-July  after passing O’Ward for the lead with under two laps remaining.

But an inconsistent season, which began with him crashing out of second place with just 10 laps remaining in the opener at Texas Motor Speedway back in early June, sees him sitting in 10th in the standings with the chance to ascend no higher than seventh in the season finale.
